Dr. Le Anh (Leanne) Tran

Principal Dentist & Co-Owner — BDSc (Melb), MDSc Ortho (UJI, Spain), Fellow ICOI, Fellow WAUPS

Airway-focused, evidence-based dentistry for every stage of life.
Meet Dr. Tran

Dentistry that considers the whole person.

Dr. Le Anh (Leanne) Tran believes dentistry should do far more than restore teeth—it should improve health, function and quality of life. Her approach is founded on the understanding that the mouth is intimately connected with breathing, facial development, jaw function and overall wellbeing. By considering these relationships together, she aims to provide care that is not only effective today but beneficial for her patients for decades to come.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Melbourne in 2002, Dr. Tran spent many years providing comprehensive family dentistry before pursuing advanced postgraduate education in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics through Universitat Jaume I in Spain. Rather than limiting her practice to a single area of dentistry, she has intentionally combined orthodontics, implant dentistry, regenerative surgery and restorative dentistry into a comprehensive approach that allows each treatment plan to be tailored to the individual needs of every patient.

Research & evidence-based care

Grounded in current research.

Her Master’s research explored the relationship between palatal morphology, airway characteristics and health-related outcomes in older adults using three-dimensional digital dental records. The project reflected her long-standing interest in how oral structures influence general health and reinforced her commitment to practising evidence-based dentistry. She continues to integrate current scientific research into everyday clinical decision-making while recognising that every patient is unique.

Dr. Tran enjoys treating patients at every stage of life—from young children whose facial growth and breathing patterns are still developing, to adults seeking orthodontic treatment, implant rehabilitation or comprehensive smile restoration. She believes that excellent dentistry begins with listening carefully, understanding each patient’s goals, and explaining treatment in a way that allows patients to make informed decisions with confidence.

Clinical interests

A comprehensive scope of care.

Her clinical interests include children’s dentistry, airway-focused orthodontics, dentofacial orthopaedics, clear aligner therapy, implant dentistry, guided bone regeneration, aesthetic and restorative dentistry, comprehensive rehabilitation, and the prevention and management of oral disease. She works closely with medical practitioners and allied health professionals whenever a multidisciplinary approach can improve patient outcomes.

Philosophy

“Dentistry is about far more than teeth. It is about helping people eat comfortably, breathe well, speak confidently and smile naturally throughout their lives.”

My role is not simply to provide treatment, but to help patients understand their oral health, prevent future problems and make informed decisions with confidence. I believe the best dentistry is evidence-based, conservative and personalised. Every patient deserves to be listened to, respected and cared for as an individual. Whether I am treating a child, restoring a smile or rebuilding a complex dentition, my goal remains the same—to provide care that improves both oral health and overall wellbeing, creating healthier smiles and healthier lives.

Principal Dentist & co-owner

Leading with purpose.

As Principal Dentist and co-owner of Central Dental Group, Dr. Tran is committed to creating practices where clinical excellence is matched by compassion, integrity and genuine patient care. Together with her husband, Dr. Wei-Jin Tay, she continues the legacy of two long-established Melbourne dental practices while embracing modern digital technology, minimally invasive techniques and lifelong learning.

Dr. Tran believes that continuing education is both a professional responsibility and a privilege. Throughout her career she has undertaken extensive postgraduate education across Australia, Europe and Asia in orthodontics, implant dentistry, regenerative surgery, digital dentistry and facial growth. She remains actively involved in research, professional education and mentoring, with a particular interest in translating emerging scientific evidence into practical improvements for patient care and increasing public awareness of the relationship between oral health and overall health.
